Strathcona Nordics Annual AGM / Ski Swap
Sunday Nov 1st at Queeneesh Elementary School

Only 10 days left until the AGM and Ski swap! It’s time to dig out your ski equipment and decide what you need to sell and buy! We are looking for Nordic ski gear in reasonable condition including skis, boots, poles, gloves, jackets and other clothing. The club takes 15% and you get the rest. The schedule is as follows:

10-12 — Drop off gear, Socialize, tea and coffee
11.30 — Lunch, chili and baking for sale
12.15 — AGM Members who attend the AGM get in to the ski swap first!
    2 – 4  –  Ski Swap
    4-4.30 — Equipment pick up

You can also drop off Equipment on Sat 31 Oct between 10.30 and 12.00
We still need a couple of people to help with set up and drop off on Saturday between 10 and 12, even if you can help for just one hour that would be good. Please email sueblox@llive.com if you can help.

Website
The new Strathcona Nordics website is up! Many thanks to Jamie McCue of Architexture for being our emergency air traffic controller during lift-off.  The new site has web 2.0 capability. Right now, it’s set up so coaches can share information on the Coaching & Officials page. You can also easily add nordic gear items to the buy/sell/trade area on the Gear page.  In setting up the new site, it was necessary to rethink the presentation and the information architecture. Apologies if you find that something is missing or incorrect. We’re working on it! The new site is set to grow and evolve with the club needs, so let us know if you have some ideas for using the dynamic new web platform. Many thanks to Val Wootton for doing such a great job for many years on the previous website!

Vancouver Island Loppet
We are looking for a coordinator for the 2010 Vancouver Island Loppet. If you can take on this job (it comes with a binder of information to help you) or would like more information please contact Susan Bloxsome at: sueblox@live.com

Racing Team Fundraisers

  • Ordering a wreath and cedar rope to decorate your house for the holidays
  • Saving your empties for the November bottle drives
  • Buying some Hot Chocolates from them
