In case you missed last week’s bulletin — Busy season for event organizers looming ahead!!
Greetings all club members, new and returning. With snow on the hill many skiers have enjoyed an early start, and hopefully more base will accumulate in the near future.
Recently the Board of Directors met for a final pre-Christmas planning meeting. One issue that rose to the fore is that our annual events (Loppet, Coastal Cup, and this year a BC Winter Games race) will pose some challenges as many of our long-term race organizers will be away at Whistler helping to stage the Olympic events.
As a result we are in need of a number of volunteers to help with these events. Please contact a Director or reply to the club via email if you are interested in helping out; it is a great way to contribute to SNSC.
See you on the trails,
Rob Grantham

Intermediate Masters — January 9th
Beginner Masters — January 10th
More Masters rec details coming your way soon. Note: these programs usually run concurrent with the Rabbits program, but the Rabbits are starting a week later this year to accommodate coach training.
COACHING
Calling all coaches — there is a Coaching Refresher Course scheduled for December 27th at Mount Washington Nordic. It’s great opportunity to warm up as a coach for your up coming ski classes. Refresh your coaching strategies with Coach Dave and work on classic technique 9 – 10 am and skate technique 10 – 11 am! For more info, contact Doug dhrecreation@shaw.ca.
RABBITS
There are only about two weeks remaining for registration for Rabbit programs! It’s going to be an exciting year for nordic skiing — Register those Rabbits, so you don’t miss out on the thrill of participating in winter sport fun when the winter olympics will be happening all around us.
RACING
Members of the Junior and Elite Racing Teams competed in Noram races at Sovereign Lake near Vernon last weekend. Coach Dave said the team did not have a good weekend, but traditionally that’s the way it goes, “We have some bad early races at Vernon, then we go to town from there.” This coming weekend, Elite Racers Kit Richmond, Sara Peters, Andrea Lee and Freya Wastaneys will race in Canmore in pursuit and classic races — races that all of them have medaled in before. Go team!
