Coastal Cup
Thank you to all racers, race organizers, and race support who helped make the Coastal Cup a success! The Spud Valley Team sent us email saying they really enjoyed our Coastal Cup and “We met many friendly people there and all that made our trip very special.” We certainly enjoyed having them race with us!

29th Annual Vancouver Island Loppet
Mark it on your calendar–Saturday, March 26! A loppet is a fun ski event where you can challenge yourself, your family, and/or your friends to a good long ski. This year we are offering the following loppet distances:
30km full loppet
15 km loppet
3 x 10km team loppet
5 km youth loppet
2 km rabbit loppet
1km cookie loppet
Our Head Coach Dave Battison has given us all some pointers on how to prepare for a loppet. See Coach Dave’s tips on the new Loppet webpage.
There will be loads of prizes this year–prizes for the youngest and for the oldest entrants, for costumes, for families, for volunteers, for first, second, and third place finishers, and random draw prizes too. Registration will open soon on Zone 4. Look for the race notice to be posted soon as well.
Rabbits
Saturday’s near blizzard conditions didn’t stop Bunnies and Rabbits from hitting the trails – way to go!

On Sunday the weather was better and it was great to see a number of Rabbits participating in the Coastal Cup #5 – congratulations to all the participated!
This weekend will see all Rabbits joining in for the Becky Scott Sprint Races. Groups will be directed to head to the stadium in intervals. Skiers will race in heats of two and each skier will sprint the race course twice. Skiers born in 2003 or earlier will sprint 75m, while skiers born 2004 and later will sprint 50 m. The purpose of these sprints is to encourage skiers to develop speed in their skiing and to expose them to a race like experience. They will also actively cheer on other participants. The sprints take about 20 minutes for each group to complete. The rest of the session will be spent skiing as usual with coaches.”
