In winter 2013, SNSC members will have the opportunity to explore the backcountry with seasoned tour leader Andrew Pape-Salmon! For those who are new to backcountry skiing, the first trip offers “How to” instruction. These trips are free to SNSC members.

Ski tours are offered in partnership with Alpine Club of Canada – VI Section.  Each trip will be limited to 10 participants but a waiting list will be kept in case a second trip leader can be identified for the popular trips.

Mount Becher Ski Tour B2* – March 17, 2013. Previous ski touring experience and avi gear required.

Mount Albert Edward Ski Tour C3* – April 21, 2013. Intermediate/advanced skiers only. Avi gear required.

Gear required: Metal edge skis with skins for climbing. Telemark or alpine touring.  Poles should have reliable snow baskets.  Avi gear is required, including avalanche transceiver, probe and shovel. All gear can be rented at Valhalla Pure in Courtenay.
