Daring Devos

“What have some of our Devos been up to?” As many of you know, we have very talented athletes in our Devo group. We encourage that they take part in various sports during this stage of their athletic development.

Lots of our team members are in soccer, sailing and swimming. This past weekend coach Berend cheered on some of the Devos during a cycle cross race in Cumberland. This race is part of an Island Series: Cross on the Rock. The recent rains made for interesting conditions.

Evan Luksay, Carson Damery and Luke Damery competed in the Men Beginner Division, right along side adults and they held their own, with respective placings of 14th, 20th, and 30th. Devo coach Devo Damery, also known as “Double D,” put the hammer down and placed 3rd in the very competitive Master Men Division. Another member of our club, Wade Luksay, placed 19th in the same division.  Look for these athletes, once we hit the snow. They are going to well prepared.

If you were in the cycle cross event and we missed you, email us info@StrathconaNordics.com.

Racing team parents’ meeting

Race team coaches would like to meet with parents of Junior team racers and Devo team racers on Sunday October 20, from 10am-11am at the Native Sons Hall in Courtenay (in the dining room).

This is a busy but important time of year in the planning of the upcoming season. The intent of this meeting is to go over the competitive calendar for the 2013/2014 season for the respective teams among other things. This meeting will follow directly after the coaches meeting that is occurring from 9am-10am.

Gear page

The Gear page on the website is currently closed and all items from last season have been removed. We’ll make a fresh start when our new season begins after the Swap and AGM on October 26.

For now, you can bring your gear to the swap to sell and try to find the gear you need at the swap.
