Strathcona Nordic Ski Club is pleased to offer two recreational programs for youth: SNAP and Learn to Ski.
The Youth Learn to Ski (New program!) is a fun, beginner recreational program for 10-13 year old with little to no skiing experience who wish to learn or improve their classic and skating techniques in a fun, social group environment through a season of coached session. Youth skiers meet at 10am on Saturday and are coached by qualified club coaches. This program runs concurrent with the Saturday Rabbit Skill Development Program.
The Strathcona Nordic Adventure Program (SNAP) is a program for tweens and teens, ages 10-15 years. It brings together a number of disciplines in the family of nordic skiing sports. SNAP continues to build on existing classic and skate skills, introduce and/or expand on snowshoeing skills, one of the fastest growing winter sports, and give kids an opportunity to try out the exhilarating sport of biathlon which involves both skiing and rifle marksmanship as well as ski-orienteering which includes map navigation along snow trails and tracks. Telemark and backcountry skiing may also be introduced as the program develops. SNAP skiers meet at 10am on Sunday and are coached by qualified club coaches. This group runs concurrent with the Sunday Rabbit Skill Development Program. Participants are required to have completed the Rabbit Program or have a solid knowledge of classic and skate techniques.
Rentals and trail passes are NOT included in the program fees.
See Preparing for the Season for information on Mount Washington rental packages and trail passes.
