The Strathcona Nordic Ski Club is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing programs for all ages and promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. The success of the Club is dependent on donations, sponsors, partners, grants and our excellent volunteers. Please see below for ways you can support the Club.

Donations

Donations come from an individual’s philanthropic (desire to support a cause) or a corporation’s philanthropic budget. There are two pathways: specific charitable fundraising contributions and general non-charitable fundraising contributions.

Charitable Contributions:

  • Charitable contributions (with a tax receipt) provide inclusion in a list of donors and no additional perks (as per Revenue Canada regulations).

  • SNSC is a registered not-for-profit association but does not have Revenue Canada status as a charitable organization so is unable to directly issue tax receipts. However, it does have 2 mechanisms whereby tax receipts can be issued:

1) Nordiq Canada: We offer a tax-deductible donation option through our affiliation with Nordiq Canada. Donations can be made directly using the following link.

  • On the Nordiq Canada page you will have to select the Strathcona Nordic Ski Club option in the dropdown menu. Funds will be directed to the Dave Battison Memorial Fund which supports youth programming and athlete development. Please use the comments section if you wish to direct your donation to a specific purpose or if you wish to name your donation in the honor of an individual. Examples of specific purposes that you could reference in the comments section include:

    • Race Team travel

    • Ski School program

    • Roller skis

    • V-Boards

  • Note: Funds may not be designated directly to individuals.

  • Note: As per CRA guidelines, funds donated for charitable purposes are restricted for specific purposes as noted above.

2) Annual CCBC - Nordiq Canada Fundraiser: Through the Provincial Association,Cross Country BC and Nordiq Canada, an annual fundraising drive is conducted in February and March each year to support local club projects. A link is posted at the start of the fundraiser.

Non-Charitable Contributions

The Club’s general fundraising (non-charitable) activities include events, grant applications, corporate partnerships, and both solicited and unsolicited donations from inside and outside of the club. Non charitable fundraising may be directed, among other things, to payments, grants, bursaries or subsidies to individual athletes or participants in the Club’s athlete and skill development programs as well as general club fundraising goals.  Please contact info@strathconanordics.com for details on how to send your contribution.
